Find yourself or lose yourself in something
Hobbies and interests are sometimes non existent in the hectic bustle of life as it is. We always think we will have time in the future. In fact we even convince ourselves, if we work harder now we will have time soon to do things to encourage our inner children. If you are struggling to find the time to do something for yourself or even the guilt of being a parent is becoming a hindrance, now is your chance to incorporate 1 thing into your life, do it with the kids if you makes you feel better. Skip one job you would usually do and try something you wouldn’t have done before, or pick up some kit to do something you used to love.
Here is a few ideas to get you started.
Engraving
Really simple idea. Engraving can be done on almost any surface. A really effective machine can be bought for under £14 from here and all you need is the surface you want to engrave.
Epoxy resin
Epoxy resin can seem scary at the thought and can seem complex, however its also easier than you think. Remember some gloves and a mask (like we could forget in current times) and get yourself some resin mix and moulds and your set.
Painting
Painting is one of those things that you may have done years ago and gave up or no longer have time for. I personally love watercolor and spend forever fixing things. This picture here took me forever to get to a point where I didn’t hate it. Based from a photo there is always a starting point and if your not sure, Google is great.
Journaling
Writing down your thoughts or feelings or even million pound ideas can be relieving. If you are stuck in your own head or brain fog is taking over, getting everything down on paper can unlock hidden things you could never imagine.
Woodwork
Simple woodworking ideas are easier to create than you think. You want to make something nice for someone, it really doesn’t have to be spectacular either. Most of the time the right people will be thrilled with your effort and thought. Worst comes to worse you hand them a box of broken bits of wood that you tried with, a pretty bow and your sorted.
Sewing
Sewing projects can be so satisfying and confusing. A sewing machine certainly helps and it doesn’t have to be anything fancy in fact I don’t think I have owned one that isn’t 30 years old.
Plant babies
Growing things is a long game, evidently. Its a hobby that is perfect if you really cant find the time to squeeze much in. Something really satisfying to grow is sunflowers. Mostly becuase they are beautifully bright and can lighten your day. Also they grow relatively fast and you can harvest the seeds for growing the following year.
